The Mute Button (24 Weeks)

24 Weeks Baby!
I was talking to a very nice gentleman on the phone at work Friday about to sign his family up for a fun event we have planned for next Friday when I felt a sneeze building up. I asked if I could put him on hold for a moment.

As I pressed the Mute button, Waaaah-CHOO! It have have been my loudest sneeze in my life.

"God Bless You," came the voice on the other end of the phone.

Without hesitation, I exclaimed, "Crap! The Mute Button!" The man burst out laughing. My face was bright red, and I apologized about five times and told him how embarrassed I was. He said it was nice of me to offer to mute the phone, as he probably wouldn't have done that. I laughed my uncomfortable laugh and he continued laughing as I completed his registration.

Meanwhile my manager and co worker were cracking up.

Its the little things in life, right?

"This is How I Roll" tee gift from my mom from 2Chix.com (Please ignore strange face and frizzed up hair)
In other news, Hubster and I are dragged the pooch to Atlanta this past weekend. We ditched the dog at our friend's house as we made our way out Saturday morning. There is a chili cookoff that I packed a Costco sized tub of Tums for. Thanks to this little lady for sharing the great idea of a great chili festival with us! People watching was out of control! (I actually have to go back to ATL to retrieve our camera before I can post photos as I didn't take any with my phone.)

How Now, Girl-Who-Feels-Like-Cow?

It was brought to may attention this past weekend that I have severely been neglecting this blog-diggity-dog. My sincerest apologies. Also, I offer my advance apologies for the next six months as I start defining my life in WEEKS, rather than months, days, years, whatever measure of time normal, non-preggos use. It will probably get old, but hey I'm excited for the little bun in the oven.

Let me tell you about the anxiety of job searching while pregnant... it makes me anxious. Told ya. If they see my chub will they think I'm preggo and not want to take the risk of me leaving after hire or will they see the chunky and then immediately see that my waistband on my work pants may or may not be buttoned (I rigged up a rubber band contraption to keep my moon in check). Being too big for mt regular clothes and small (thank the lawd I am too small for something!) for maternity pants.

The sudden onset of nausea in my 11th week of being in the family way (tee hee hee) didn't help matters either. I kept thinking as I would position myself as close as possible to the nearest restroom, "If I squeeze through the giant man and the three inches between the chair behind him and then clothesline his grandma, I might be able to barf in the bathroom instead of on my own chest." On Hubster's Special Day of Getting One Year Older (aka his 30th Birthday), I flew through a German restaurant faster than a bowling ball hurtling through a vacuum tube, and made it le toilet before Mt. Saint Mo's mushroom appetizer made an encore appearance... twice. Don't worry friends, I regained my appetite the following Tuesday (as this was Thursday, over a wedding weekend, I was somewhat okay with that).

I discovered that chicken, yes that incredible, edible bird that I cook five days a week officially gives me the creeps. I just got a shiver up my spine. Blech! A few weeks (there I go again) ago I realized that I haven't eaten my feathered friend in a while...hmmm... odd. I made hot wings for dinner with my other love, Frank's Original Red Hot Sauce, and could barely choke it down...strange. BBQ chicken breasts with corn on he cob... I only ate the corn... bewildering. Then I noticed that I eat massive quanities of ground beef. Chili, burgers, meatloaf, stroganoff, salisbury steaks, tacos, burritos, nachos (really like Mexican food, okay). I have replaced bird with cow. Who am I?!

One of my besties got married!!! The wedding was incredible! Natalie looked especially gorgeous and Tyler so handsome. (I felt like the aforementioned cow, but managed to have a great time before and after getting sick in the country club's restroom during the dinner that received rave reviews). God provided a light show in the form of far-off lightning storm, too. More on this beautiful occasion to come in another post, promise!

Oh yeah, while at the rehearsal I received my job offer at The Children's Museum of the Upstate. Blessed Be! I am once again gainfully employed! I started Tuesday (the day after we got back to Greenville). I looooove watching the children get excited to enter the museum. The jump up and down and tug on the mother's shirt hems and say, "please, please, please" when their eyes see the kaleidoscope climber. This is a great step in the right direction for me and my growing family.

So there it is. The last few weeks of my life. Weeks weeks weeks. Finally things worth blogging about :)

In honor of having to coordinate another High School Prom tonight, I give you the ugliest Prom dresses (that I found on the internet) of 2011:

I feel like they have it on backwards, but thank you for covering your navels.

There are no words.

I received something like this at my bachelorette party

Could have used the extra fabric for the train in the front

She's on the prrrrrrrowl tonight
Looking for the limelight, well you can't miss them... wowza
A little fact you may not have known about lil ol' me: I worked at a store that sold prom dresses when I was in high school. All the scratches my arms got from putting back sequin, bedazzeled, beaded, sparkling confectionery gowns have scarred my mind so much that when I picked my wedding dress, I specifically stayed away from a lot of sparkle (but chose on that had a little beading just under the bust far away from my forearms). Have a happy prom, class of 2011!

Put on your Dancing Shoes!

Pretty in Pink - whatever happened to white dinner jackets; they're so classy and debonair

Its Prom season, y'all! (see, I'm practicing before the big move) This means ridiculously oversized hair, skirts either up to here or necklines down to whoa! I will be scouring the corners and stairwells of Arizona Science Center keeping my eyes out on your creeping teenagers with your underage flasks and raging hormones. Behave tonight, kids! (Anything you do right now can really mess up graduation, and really put a damper on my enthusiastic prom-lovin'.)

I have five Proms over the next six weeks (and the week I don't have one I will be in Greenville, home-hunting). However painful this may be for me, the pain only lasts until my next Hubby-foot massage. You pain will last forever when you look bak in ten years and think to yourself, "Who let me wear that?!"

For the record, I looked like a peach colored Vegas showgirl. No one is immune. Have so much fun and make tonight one of the best nights of your young lives! Dances are really hard to come by when you get older, and so are meals that faculty pay for!

PS, is it weird that a 27-year-old woman is excited to hear Prom King and Queen announcements?

Be Kind to Your Solicitor

Helloooo? Hellooo? Can you hear me?!
Especially since it may be me! If you, or someone you know, is recently engaged, I may have your phone number... and I may be calling. That's right, my lovelies, your friendly neighborhood wedding planner is cold calling asking (just barely with enough dignity to not be begging) you to hold you wedding at Arizona Science Center. In the past week, I have called 148 of you lucky ladies, 3 of you were sad that you weren't really engaged, 1 of you was so old you couldn't hear me correctly, and another said you didn't appreciate me even saying your name and that I should never pick up another phone for the rest of my life *click*. Que Sera Sera!

I have taken on my role of Facility Sales Manager with gusto, selling, planning, coordinating events for as many hours as there are in a day.. and trying my darndest to smile all the way through (when I dropped that prop on my foot, for the second time, that smile may or may not have faded for a moment). You come to me for smiles of your own, and I love to know that I helped put it there.

Next week... Prom season begins! Teenagers scare me so this should be interesting.
