Warning: I may be Abusive And/Or Offensive

Seriously, Facebook?! I would post links to my blog every now and then, per the request of a few friends and family members (why they don't just follow me, I don't know). As I prepared to post a link yesterday, I was quite a bit surprised at a pop up that read my blog has been flagged as "Abusive and/or Offensive."

Cue jaw drop. I try not to swear on my blog, though I may be thinking of some choice words in my head. I don't post raunchy photos, though I am sure there is nothing more titilating to see than a preggo gigante. I don't mention companies that did me wrong, aside from the post office.

The post office! Are they behind the facebook battle lines? I have exposed their injurious ways to plaid wrapped presents of Christmas Eves, must I now face the consequences of my calling them out?

Doubtful. In all likelihood, someone reported me as such because they didn't like seeing my posts on their newsfeed. I guess reporting my big bad blog was easier than unsubscribing or defriending me. Hhhmmph. Yesterday my feelings were hurt (I'm sensitive these days), but today I can just roll my eyes and be annoyed (I am also a tad moodswingy).

I leave you with the everlasting words of Gloria Gaynor.

Second State Radio Update

One of the trickier parts of moving across the country is discovery new radio stations you can get into. Hubby and I have experienced this challenge. Living in a giant metropolis like PHX, one doesn't think of a lack of media ever being a concern. As a Journalism and Mass Comm. degree holder, I dearly miss all of my options. On Thursday, as I navigated the one way streets of Greenville, SC, a familiar tune pricked my ears. No it wasn't the delightful Adele song the DJs play every morning at 8am (or the Britney Spears or Nikki Minaj ones they have in strong rotation either).

Hawk and Tom Show

It has been a loooong time since I ave heard this segment, but it is definitely the same Second Date Update segment as JohnJay and Rich in Phoenix! Even the music bed is the same. I couldn't believe my ears. Of course the callers are different, but it is nice to have a piece of my former home here.

I do have to say that these Southern citizens are a might bit less sleazy then our Southwestern counterpart.

New Music Obsession

During my daily scourings of youtube.com (I listen to the videos while I do my work all day, pretty much every day) today, I stumbled across some beautiful songs by a French artist, Emilie Simon.

No, I have no idea what she is saying. My French is limited to foods (expresso, croissant, brioche), greetings ("Bonjour, monsieur. Mon nom est Monique."), and compliments ("Vous etes si joli, madame!"). That last one I copied from a free translator, ah! the glories of the web!

Have a listen, I promise she is quite talented. If you know what she is singing, let me know!

Reflection

Sittin' in the mornin' sun

I'll be sittin' when the even' come
Watchin' the ships roll in
And then I'll watch 'em go out again

I'm gonna sit on the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide roll away
Sit on the dock of the bay wastin' time, ooh ohh

One of my favorite reflection songs, this has me think of the places I have been to get where I am and the things I have done to be who I am at this moment. Sometimes we focus so much on going, going, going and pleasing, pleasing, pleasing for so long that when we take a step back we realize that we are in the same place as the same person. That isn't a bad thing.

Listening to: "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" (cover) by Sara Bareilles

If you were falling, then I would catch you
If you need a light, then I'd find a match
'Cause I love the way you say Good Morning
And you take me the way I am

If you are chilly, here take my sweater
Your head is aching, I'll make it better
'Cause the way you call me baby
And you take me the way I am

I'll buy you Rogaine when you start losing your hair
Sew you patches on all you tear
'Cause I love you more than I could ever promise
And you take me the way I am
You take me the way I am, you take me the way I am

I told you it was a good thing.

Black Coffee

Having "one of those days" today. My entire office seems very tense, on the edge, ready to explode at the drop of a fedora. Having felt my back muscles knot up as big as a tennis ball, I spent my afternoon listening to late, great jazz legend Peggy Lee, letting the melody soothe my frayed nerves and tune out the raised voices behind my head.

Its beautiful as well as therapeutic, to drink in an incredible song and sipping espresso. Well, in this instance, its the tar-like office rot-gut in a mug, that even my vivid imagination has difficulty masking. Even in this case, I prefer my coffee an unadulterated, unpolluted, rich black.
